"Tara, Amongst the Petunias"
This piece was done specifically with the theme of plants and people in mind for a traveling show entitled "People, Plants and Cultures". The emotion and radiance within Tara's face works well with the richness of color in the blossoming petunias in the background. Tara is a fourth grade student of mine. She is a beautiful young lady and has a very dark complexion. I wanted that type of contrast in the piece. Having taught Tara for the past two years, I'd also like to think that her personality comes through in the work itself.
